Lemonade and Sugahhh

Happy New Year Loves!!! 2018 has officially arrived. You know what that means? 2017 is history and 2018 is a mystery. It’s that new new, and I’m soo ready for it!

But, let us not forget the many gifts, lessons, and lemonades in 2017.

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade or at least that’s what people say. I question what happens when life gives you lemons with no water or sugar, then what do you do? The only thing that you can do is to slice the lemons and try not to make the “I just put a lemon in my mouth and I know it’s sour but I did it anyway face”.

A year ago, life handed me more than a handful of lemons and the only water in sight was a combination of the salty tears and snot coming out of my nose. So what did I do, I sliced those lemons and made the “I just ate a sour lemon face”.

DRINK UP BUTTERCUP!!!!

Now is not the time to start making pink limonade and Arnold Palmer’s just because it’s a new year.  What do I mean? Keep those lemons i.e. the heartbreak, the job loss, the deaths, the hurt, the pain, the shame, just keep all of the lemons. The sour lemons are exactly what I know God will use in 2018 and beyond to make my life (and yours) that much more sweeter. How do I know this? He’s done it before.

2017 was the most epic of years for me in many ways. The most sour moment was in summer 16, all summer 16. I made alot of terrible choices, that affected my life for all of 2017.

Loneliness: lemon

Allowing a narcissistic man to move into my apartment with no job, no car, no money and spend all of mine: lemon

Broke as a 2 month old full set of nails with no fill: lemon

Having to give up my goal of living closer to the beach: lemon

My therapist reccommending antidepressants: lemon

Oh darlings, but there was so much suggahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Being offered to rent a room in a friend’s townhouse: sugahhh

Rent way less than my apartment on my own: suggahhh

Hearing God tell me to get that man out of my apartment or else I would end up dead: sugaahhhhhhhhhhhh

Starting antidepressants and feeling a whole lot better: sugahhhhhhh

You see it’s not just about the lemons in our lives, it’s also about the sugar. You can’t make lemonade without lemons or sugar. I challenge you as you sit down to reflect, refocus, and realign your goals for 2018, don’t just ponder the lemons, remember the sugar!

Love, peace and blessings to you sugahh!!
