Solo Travel: Concrete Jungle

Hello Friends!!

Summer has finally arrived here in Florida. Wait… who am I kidding, it’s always summer in Florida. For those who live in the Northern regions of the world, WELCOME TO SUMMMMMAAA

The arrival of summer signifies many thanks for many people. Teacher’s rejoice the arrival of their long awaited hiatus from their amazing students. Parents cringe at the thought of their electric and grocery bills skyrocketing. Kids bask in the glory of sleeping in until noon, the endless selfies at the beach with the squad.

Then there are the free people. Who are these “free” people you ask? The people with no children, no bae to be boo’d up with and they harness the ultimate itch to wander wherever the wind takes them

My Friends the wind blew and I hopped on a cheap flight to THEE CITY

New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There’s nothing you can’t do
Now you’re in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Hear it for New York, New York, New York

Here are a few pics from my trip

My Airbnb neighbor Kristy from Australia. She was the sweetest soul ever. We chatted and ended up going on a Memorial Day weekend singles cruise (which was quite entertaining). I wanna be like Kristy when I grow up. New York was her first stop and a 3 month Eat Pray Love holiday

Here is the Airbnb I stayed in. It was close to the Jackson Heights train station about a 2 block walk from my Airbnb. The airport was less than 15 minutes away. The family that hosted me was  awesome and very welcoming and even provided me with a basket of menu’s and this sheet of recommendations. For my first experience in an Airbnb, I can’t wait until my next trip back to NYC. This was the perfect spot for the local experience

Barilla Restaurants Radio City.  I found this gem during my wandering after a trip to MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) Who knew Barilla, the pasta makers had a whole restaurant!?!

Espresso 77  Prior to my trip, I scoped out a few local spots on Yelp came across coffee house/wine bar. Yes coffee house AND wine.  Espresso 77 was highly recommended by my Airbnb host, so I knew I had to check it out. On Friday’s they have live music. I had the privilege of jamming to the rich tunes of Os Clavelitos  an “American Samba” band based in New York

If you go solo, this is how your pictures will look. I just don’t think it’s worth the full price of $30-$40

Now that I’m single again after my separation from my husband, I found that I didn’t know who I was anymore. I’m trying to figure that out and I’ll enjoy the single life again until I figure myself out again. So inspiring!

Stay committed to the discovery process. Traveling solo has definitely helped me face a lot of fears and get to know myself even better. You got this!
